Job Description Job Description SUMMARY Under the direction of
the Director – Standards & Guidance, develops and delivers relevant
and timely knowledge and guidance for the profession of internal
auditing. Serves as a subject matter expert on the Standards and
Guidance team and expands The IIA’s core content including: all
aspects of the International Professional Practices Framework
(IPPF), thought leadership, and practical tools both for members in
general as well as those in specialty areas. Identifies emerging
issues and participates as a subject matter expert as The IIA
defines strategies to address these topics in alignment with the
overarching enterprise content strategy. Assists the Director –
Standards & Professional Guidance in their role as staff liaison to
the IIASB and in the strategic planning and maintenance of
standards and related content, continuing to address the evolving
expectations of the internal auditing profession globally.
Collaborates across the organization on initiatives to advance The
IIA’s strategic objectives. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Professional
Guidance Responsibilities Update and promulgate the International
Professional Practices Framework® (IPPF®) via development and
maintenance of Mandatory and Supplemental Guidance, including the
Global Internal Audit Standards, Topical Requirements, Global
Guidance, and other related content. Leverage personal internal
audit subject matter expertise to develop high quality guidance and
related content in various media. Serve as content developer and
project manager for the development of various types of
professional guidance and related thought pieces through
collaboration with IIA global volunteer and virtual teams.
Synthesize input from various subject matter experts to draft and
revise guidance. Conduct research, analysis, and remain current on
emerging issues affecting the global internal auditing profession.
Act as a subject matter expert on behalf of The IIA. Respond to
inquiries from members, nonmembers, employees, organizations,
quality assurance reviewers, etc., for interpretation of IIA
guidance. Build relationships with IIA affiliates and subject
matter experts to grow the portfolio of guidance and pool of
subject matter experts. Contribute to the development of marketing
strategies and plans for promoting guidance. Define the value
proposition for each piece of guidance. Advise and collaborate with
marketing and public relations in preparing web events,
IPPF-related promotional literature, and other communications.
Proactively support and promote the IPPF. Cross-Functional Team
Responsibilities Provide internal audit guidance to members, IIA
staff and management, IIA volunteers and Executive Committee
members. This includes: Providing editorial content for various IIA
publications. Defining the value proposition of the IPPF in
partnership with Marketing. Participating in speaking engagements,
conference sessions, and webinars on behalf of The IIA. Preparing
PowerPoint presentations serving various constituents such as IIA
executive leadership, chapters, institutes, and more. Review of
technical content in courses and publications as requested. Serve
as a champion for and participant in the content strategy of The
IIA to provide valuable content to our members. Leverage various
internal data inputs to develop outputs that increase the value
proposition to members. Integrate Standards and Guidance with
various IIA products and services. Lend subject matter expertise to
other IIA products and services and serve on cross-functional teams
as needed. Collaborate within and among the Standards and
Professional Knowledge team as well as build and sustain strong
partnerships throughout the entire IIA staff, institute, and
volunteer organization. Work with Global Advocacy to generate
official IIA responses to publications and projects from other
professional organizations, government agencies, and regulatory
bodies. Complete ad hoc projects as required by executive
management within The IIA. Other specialized duties may be assigned
according to the needs of the business. Critical Success Factors

Self-motivation and ability to work independently. Demonstrated
significant attention to detail. High degree of reliability and
integrity. Supervisory Responsibilities This role may lead or
coordinate various teams of volunteer subject matter experts. This
role also provides feedback to technical writers, either directly
or indirectly on a project management basis. The role also requires
strong collaboration skills within and among the Standards and
Guidance team as well as with all IIA staff, volunteers, and other
partners. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an

Bachelors’ degree from an accredited college or university is
required. Seven or more years’ internal audit and related
experience with one to three years at the people leader (manager)
level. Experience with a professional service organization and/or
professional association is highly desirable. Experience with an
international organization is an asset to any role within The IIA.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Certified Internal Auditor
(CIA) is required for the job. Other certifications in governance,
risk management, or control specialties are also considered a plus.
Computer Skills Intermediate or higher ability to work in a
computerized environment with a working knowledge of Microsoft
Office products, SharePoint, and databases. Working knowledge of
collaboration applications, Audit / GRC Solutions, ERP software,
data analytics tools, etc. desirable. Familiarity with AI-based
audit tools is a plus. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze,
and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial
reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common
inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or
members of the business community. Ability to write presentations
and articles for publication or live presentation that conform to
prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present
information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of
directors. The ability to read, write, and speak multiple languages
is an asset to any role within The IIA. Other Skills and abilities
Excellent leadership and communication skills are needed to work
with other professional organizations, governments, and regulatory
bodies and influence their decision making. Ability to handle
multiple priorities, lead and work in teams, conduct business in a
global environment and represent The IIA to other organizations.
Strong presentation, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills are a
must. Analytical Thinking and Problem Solving Evaluates key
business challenges within an area and develops business strategy
or new solutions. Ability to take a complex topic and communicate
it in easily understandable terms. Leads others to solve complex
problems; uses sophisticated analytical thought to exercise
judgment and identify innovative solutions. Ability to interpret an
extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
