Job Description:

TCI has an immediate need for a Process Engineer Chemical Mechanical Planarization (CMP) in Palm Bay, FL. This is a long-term contract opportunity with the possibility of hire.

NOTE: This position requires US Citizenship and a Secret Security Clearance prior to start.

SUMMARY

The CMP Process Engineer will work alongside a talented team of professionals with a focus on establishing, monitoring, and maintaining reproducible CMP processes and implementing yield enhancements with the ability to identify complex problems and implementing solutions. The ideal candidate will have the ability to perform routine tool maintenance and maintain the CMP tools. The candidate must have experience working with polishing heads with multi-zone control to dial in polishing conditions that provide optimized results to minimize within-wafer and wafer-to-wafer nonuniformity. The candidate must have a strong background in planarization of blanket oxide layers over metal traces as well as single damascene processing with copper and oxide layers. The candidate will also communicate technical results and will support internal peer design reviews.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Communicates with IPT leads and team members to define a process solution that incorporates incoming substrate conditions and meets outgoing target requirements.
• Understands pad wear and pad lifetime and knows when to schedule pad conditioning and replace pads and other consumable items to maintain a reproducible and reliable process.
• Defines a CMP statistical process control method for development and pilot production volumes of wafers. Monitors the CMP process by responding to in-line issues and dispositions of production wafers.
• Coordinates the scheduling of process qualifications and equipment down time with manufacturing or equipment engineering.
• Works with project management and engineering to order and maintain consumable supplies.
• Uses software to analyze data, identify trends to make decisions about processing product.
• Makes adjustments when process parameters are exceeded and monitors process parameters when tools return from maintenance. REQUIREMENTS
  • Masters degree or PhD in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Materials Science, Physics, or Industrial Engineering with a minimum of 5 years of industrial experience. A Bachelors degree with 10 years of experience will also be considered.
  • Understanding of statistical methods and design of experiments.
  • Strong knowledge in CMP process optimization and in depth understanding of CMP consumables supply chain for planarizing SiO2 over metal and Cu/barrier layer single damascene processes.
  • Software Data Analysis software (Python, Matlab, Spotfire, Minitab, JMP, etc.).
  • Experience using CMP tools with multi-zone pressure control to achieve minimal within-wafer and wafer-to-wafer nonuniformity values.
  • Experience working with CMP tools that have optical end point detection.
  • Must currently possess a Secret Security Clearance or have the ability to obtain one prior to start.
