Our member grocery and other supportive programs ensure our community members have access to the resources, crisis care, case management, food and household subsidies and transformative education necessary to stabilize their current situations and permanently improve their lives for the future.POSITION SUMMARYWe are leading the fight against poverty and are searching for a talented Executive Director, MSGP (Member Share Grocery Program) to lead our grocery and distribution operations. In this role, the successful candidate will oversee grocery operations for all MSGP locations including mobile markets, provide direction and oversight to our warehouse and distribution channels, ensure logistics are operating at maximum efficiency and much more. This role is fully accountable for achieving all sales and revenue targets, managing to the budget, maintaining reduced expenses and achieving established profitability goals for the department. Accountable to the CEO, you must be comfortable leading through collaboration and quality leadership, while providing financial and operational oversight for all grocery programs and fostering a positive and productive environment for our employees and members.WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

  • Creating annual budgets and strategic plan for grocery program.
    • Managing the grocery and distribution centers and ensure that productivity remains optimal at all times throughout the year.
      • Executing the company's strategy, promoting our vision, mission and values; resulting in a great member experience and maximized profitability and number of persons served.
        • Exceeding operational goals as related to sales, profitability and expenses through implementation of established programs and processes.
          • Coordinating sales promotion activities and preparing or directing managers preparing merchandise displays.
            • Creating, implementing and monitoring systems & policies necessary to achieve effective cost containment and expense control measures.
              • Monitoring key store and warehouse performance indicators, building and implementing plans for improvement where needed.
                • Ensuring department employees have clear understanding of all company and department policies, procedures and operating guidelines.
                  • Resolving any complaints that arise including those from members, donors, vendors, and/or employees.
                    • Ensuring all outlets have proper stocking and rotation procedures to maximize shelf space, product supply and more.
                      • Supervising Regional Manager, Grocery Managers and Warehouse Manager; coach, train and support managers to effectively manage their teams, resolve member complaints and manage employee performance.
                        • Ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, and local regulations governing our distribution centers and transportation departments by monitoring and staying abreast of DOT regulations and updates.
                          • Ensuring all employees are trained in Servsafe and food and safety handling.
                            • Working with procurement to maintain a nutritional mix of product.
                              • Developing audit and inventory processes to ensure cleanliness, safety, product rotation, and maintain adequate product level.
                                • Working with marketing to create communications for program members, partners, and local communities.
                                  • Managing safety training for department and ensure that all employees are operating within federal, state and local safety and OSHA guidelines.
                                    • Traveling extensively to MSGP locations to ensure proper oversight and management; and to conduct frequent and consistent audits.
                                      • Leading and/or participating in any other MSGP department initiative as needed.ESSENTIALS THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL
                                        • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, ability to manage a multi-faceted department by hiring, developing and retaining a strong core team of employees.
                                          • Exceptional communication skills, ability to collaborate and work well with others.
                                            • Strong planning, time management, and organizational skills; ability to multi-task within rapidly changing environment.
                                              • Ability to prioritize and re-prioritize as needed in a fast-paced and somewhat stressful working environment, especially when dealing with time sensitive issues.
                                                • Positive attitude even in the face of adversity.
                                                  • Effective decision making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills are a must.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
                                                    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in grocery and/or retail industry.
                                                      • 8+ years of grocery, retail, warehouse or logistics experience, preferably in a similar role.
                                                        • 4+ years of leadership experience including managing supervisors and large, dispersed teams.PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTSMust be able to sit, stand, walk, bend and move around for long periods of time and move frequently throughout the day. Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 25lbs.
