World Aquaculture Society Employment Service - Job - World Aquaculture Society Employment Service Assistant Farm Manager Sebastian, FL Full Time $40,000-$60,500 Job DetailsAreas of Responsibility: - Educatingthe crews on rules, policies, safety procedures & Hazard analysis & critical control points (HACCP) practices. - Aidin leading a crew of 2 to 6 employees. - Aidin managing labor for quality of work & efficiency to ensure crops areplanted, maintained, & harvested effectively. - Farming& harvesting tasks include (but are not limited to): predator control &protection, & projecting & harvesting in an efficient & systematicmanner. - Keepingfarm data records from seeding to harvest. - Assistthe farm manager in coordinating crews & equipment to maximize equipment &personnel utilization. - Ensurefarm equipment is well maintained & cared for. - Recordkeepingfor crews will be required.PhysicalDemands: - Mustbe a strong swimmer. - Mustbe physically able to lift, push, & pull up to 60 pounds.

  • Ability to sit, stand &/orwalk on uneven ground.
  • The employee may be required tostoop, bend, kneel, twist, & squat.
  • The vision requirements include(but is not limited to): close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision,depth perception & the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to speak &hear well enough to communicate with co-workers, supervisors &managers.
  • Must be able to use hands forrepetitive simple grasping, pushing, pulling & fine manipulation. - Musthave a valid driver's license & reliable transportation to work sites inIndian River, St. Lucie, & Martin County. - Mustbe able to work outside in all weather conditions - wet, cold, hot, dry, &rough water, at various times of the day, including early morning hours,evenings, & weekends when necessary. - Musthave their own supply of dive mask, snorkel, fins, wetsuit, dive booties, raingear, gloves etc.Preferred Experience but not Required: - Education:Bachelor's - CPRCertified - ScubaCertified - Knowledgeableabout Florida's Indian River Lagoon ecosystems - Hazard analysis &critical control pointsCertified (HACCP)


    RequirementsJobRequirements, Knowledge, & Skills - Asincere interest in aquaculture/shellfish culture.
    • Minimum two years of shellfish,aquaculture, or related experience.
    • Team & individualleadership skills.
    • Organization & planningskills. - Mustbe punctual, predictable, & on time for work.
      • Ability to work independentlyat times with little direction.
      • Must work well with other crewmembers, & independently.
      • Must maintain positive companymorale.
      • Sound decision making skills.
      • Proficiency with MicrosoftOffice - Word, Excel & Outlook.
      • Excellent verbal/written skills. - Experiencedwith boat handling & trailering. - Mustmaintain work area(s) & be respectful of neighboring communities &businesses. - Mustbe able to have a flexible work schedule and be on call when needed.

We have a small nursery system & a6.5-acre water column lease where we are currently in the process of expanding& installing floating more gear. The TCS farm is located on the IndianRiver Lagoon, the most bio-diverse estuary in North America, Treasure CoastShellfish raises eastern oysters (Crassostrea virginica) as part of thegrowing oyster aquaculture industry on the East Coast of Florida. This pastyear we have more than doubled in size using about 30% of our acreage and haveabout 400 floating cages and planted 1 million oyster seeds in 2022.
