BASIC FUNCTION: - Plan and provide clinical care for patients at a CCIRH on/offsite medical office practices in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY: - Supervises Clinical Assistant I and II and Medical Assistants when necessary. NATURE AND SCOPE: - Under the direction of the office physician, the Clinical Assistant III will be responsible for directing and coordinating day-to-day clinical functions within the practice. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: - Responsible for working in a safe and protective manner at all times, keeping in mind that safety and environmental hazards are the responsibility of all employees for themselves, other staff members and patients. Provides professional clinical care for patients within the medical office practice, including nursing care plans, monitoring of vital signs, and patient/family education. Acts as a clinical resource in various situations. Safely records and administers medications. Assists physicians with medical examinations and treatments as appropriate. Performs waived laboratory tests and EKGs. Facilitates ease of visit within office, and assists with external resources and scheduling as needed. - Collaborates with other services in meeting identified patient needs. - - - - Performs various duties to support operations, including cleaning/maintenance of work areas, exam rooms, office equipment, and supplies as needed, telephone and reception duties, and pickup/delivery of various items as needed. Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests and treats illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds. Monitors therapies and provides continuity of care. Triages patient calls and evaluates patient problems. Responds to emergencies, including use of CPR. Counsels patient/family on preventive healthcare. Documents patient information and care in medical record and may maintain department statistical database for research purposes. CORE COMPETENCIES: - Must be mentally alert and able to devote full attention to duties. Maintains current knowledge of trends in field of nursing and healthcare. Must be able to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, staff and others. Must have basic computer skills. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida with a BSN or MSN degree. BLS Certification required from American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
