  • Acts at the direction and under the supervision of the treating physical therapist and in accordance with the plan of care.
  • Participates in the development and evaluation of the plan of care in partnership with the patient and caregivers.
  • Assists the treating physical therapist in documenting the treatment and intervention, patient's response to the treatment, a patient's progress towards goals.
  • Effectively communicates with other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team providing care to promote coordination of patient care and planning for discharge.
  • Coach and educate patients and family on their plan of care, established goals, exercises and self-care.A few must-haves for Home Health Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs):
    • Current licensure, registration, or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Florida
    • Minimum of 2 years of physical therapy assistant experience, ideally in home healthcare
    • CPR certification
    • Knowledge of state and federal home health regulations
