has an opening for a Software Engineer Manager 2 to join our Global
Surveillance Division team of qualified, diverse individuals. This
position will be located in Melbourne, Florida . The Software
Engineering Manager (Modeling & Simulation) position will be
focused on software. This position is a dual-hat position requiring
the candidate to perform functional management activities as well
as the individual's program responsibilities. It is expected that
the Functional management role will comprise 15% to 20% of the
candidate's time. The candidate should have a strong technical
background in software development and embedded systems, including
strong C/C++, software requirements and software design experience.
Software Development focus is for mission applications using
software engineering best practices & standards and participate in
the full life cycle of software development to include C++ coding
to NGAS and MDC2 coding standards, unit testing and software
integration testing, software requirements and design documentation
and support for program reviews. Management duties will require
tasking and coordination of approximately 10-13 engineers, and
process and resource coordination with functional homeroom
management. The selected candidate will be responsible for managing
the development of modeling and simulation architectures, to
include requirements, algorithms, software, and hardware that
supports advanced development, domestic, international development
requirements within MDC2. Support the long-range strategic and
business goals including software optimization, affordability and
influence the future direction of M&S. The selected candidate
will support other leaders and act as a prime spokesperson on
M&S technical capabilities and future directions, plan R & D
activities, recommend technological applications to accomplish
long-range objectives and apply/or develop highly advanced
technologies, scientific principles, theories, and concepts. The
selected candidate will work independently and support the
development approaches to solutions supporting the program needs.
The selected candidate will act as a liaison with frequent
inter-organizational and outside customer contacts. Designs,
develops, documents, tests and debugs applications software and
systems that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Conducts
multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment
designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design,
development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems
for product and commercial software. The ideal candidate will have
the ability to take ownership of hard problems and drive to a
solution, while working in a team environment and provide
leadership for its implementation. It is critical that you
understand the software development life cycle and have an in-depth
knowledge of automated testing to facilitate and analyze large data
sets. The selected candidate will participate in the full life
cycle of software development, to include requirements development,
modeling and design, application development, unit to CSCI testing,
integration, formal system testing, release, installation, and
maintenance. The selected candidate will apply technical expertise
in solving complex integrations problems and interact with Program
Management, external suppliers and/or government customers.
Therefore, excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills are
required. The candidate will design, implement, and manage the
integration and testing strategies of a large software system. A
solid experience in bash scripting, C/C++, or other OOP languages,
in a Linux environment is required. An active in scope DoD secret
security clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a Special
Program Access clearance is required. Responsibilities: A strong
working knowledge and understanding of MBSE and tools Work with
various team members to integrate functionality with other software
components Lead cross-domain communication efforts, facilitating
knowledge sharing and collaboration among diverse technical teams
to drive project success Provide technical solutions to a wide
range of complex difficult problems that are imaginative, thorough,
practicable, and consistent with programs objectives Ability to
analyze the system as a whole and determine potential impacts of
integrating new technologies Review, analyze, and incorporate
technical requirements into end-to-end system architectures to
include testing and documentation of results Provide expertise in
customer-facing groups, interpreting technical requirements into
actionable software goals Contributing to the full life cycle of
system development in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
This includes requirements development, modeling and design,
application development, integration, formal system testing,
release, installation, and maintenance Working closely with
leadership and execute their vision Develop and guide the full
lifecycle of software design, implementation, and integration,
ensuring adherence to best practices Engage in supplier management,
leading discussions with external suppliers to clarify requirements
and provide strategic guidance that enhances overall system
understanding and performance Collect, analyze, and report on
software metrics to track performance and progress Meet milestones
and deadlines by providing the best in-class solutions Conducts
multidisciplinary research and collaborates with equipment
designers and/or hardware engineers in the planning, design,
development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems
for product and commercial software Basic Required Qualifications:
Must either have a bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology,
Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 9 years of
relevant software experience that includes a background in software
development, OR a Master’s degree in Science, Technology,
Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 7 years of related
professional experience OR a PhD in Science, Technology,
Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of
relevant software experience Must be familiar with all phases of
the software development life cycle and Agile software development
Prior lead or management experience in a team environment
Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of
software engineering Experience developing simulations and models
and integrate existing simulation models/capabilities into a
broader simulation architecture Experience developing and executing
simulation demonstrations for customers Experience working closely
with Program Management to identify technical solutions that will
meet program needs within allocated budget Knowledge of Development
lifecycles with experience across multiple iterations of the
complete lifecycle as a practitioner Experience architecting
protocols, algorithms, and/or solutions with proven maintainability
and durability Expert working knowledge and experience with
Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) techniques and tools.
(Rhapsody, Cameo, etc) Experience with test automation tools and
frameworks Expert working knowledge with C/C++ and Ada Expert
working knowledge and familiarity with OMS Expert working knowledge
and familiarity with UCI schema Expert working knowledge and
familiarity with DIS (IEEE Standard 1278) Demonstrated ability in
applying and/or developing technologies, scientific principles,
theories, and concepts The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD
security clearance (required to start) and the ability to obtain
and maintain a special program access clearance Preferred
Qualifications: Master’s Degree with 10 years of software
engineering experience and M&S Expert in Computer Science and
Engineering Expert in the understanding of software architectures,
computing environments and Modeling and Simulations Expert in the
DoD proposal process with relevant experience Develop computer
simulations of physics/math models Experience with DOORS Strong
aptitude for software development and integration, simulation
development, graphic utilities, and user interfaces Fluent in
multiple programming and modeling languages Expert with the ability
to provide pivotal technical solutions to programs during critical
troubleshooting events Quickly review, analyze, and understand
complex software systems; has experience being able to diagnose and
troubleshoot production systems Previous experience of briefing and
interacting with senior customer officials and internal executive
management Experience in documenting best practices and revising
processes (command media) to institutionalize corrective actions
and best practices is a plus An active, in-scope DoD security
clearance at the Top-Secret level with issue/reissue in the last 5
years and the ability to obtain and maintain a special program
access clearance Primary Level Salary Range: $139,100.00 -
$208,700.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline;
however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when
determining base salary offers such as the scope and
responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience,
education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the
position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift
differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as
well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in
Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term
Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of
