Job Description:

BASIC FUNCTION:# Reviews and analyzes medical records for completeness, timeliness and accuracy in order to maintain high quality medical records at CCIRH.# Reports to director medical records. SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:# None NATURE AND SCOPE:# The position requires daily internal communication and interaction with all team members, management and medical staff, as well as frequent external communication and interaction with patients and families. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:# Supports the mission, vision and values of the hospital. Responsible for working in a safe and protective manner at all times, keeping in mind that safety and environmental hazards are the responsibility of all employees for themselves, other staff members and patients. Responsible for initial analysis of inpatient and outpatient medical records for completeness and data entry into computerized deficiency and locator system. Monitors physician compliance with record completion guidelines. Responsible for performing typing and other clerical duties for the department. Performs reanalysis of records which have been previously analyzed and subsequently completed by physicians. Assists physicians in their timely and accurate completion of records. Demonstrates #service excellence# in performance of job duties. CORE COMPETENCIES:# Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload. Effective written and oral communication skills. Delivers excellent customer service. Demonstrates mathematical acumen to include basic and intermediate skill levels. Able to maintain confidentiality of patient information. Successful completion of medical terminology course within the last five (5) years. Typing speed of 40 wpm.# Computer terminal data entry experience. Ability to work well with physicians, good oral and written communication skills. Oral communication and hearing acuity are necessary for telephone usage. Must have visual acuity to read and manual dexterity to write. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:# High School Diploma. Minimum of two (2) years# experience in a medical records department or equivalent medical office experience. CCIRH IS A DRUG AND NICOTINE FREE WORKPLACE
