SummaryPerform intricate upholstery operations and create custom interiors and cutting/sewing patterns, utilizing standard upholsterers tools as well as tools specific to developmental/unique operations. Materials include, but are not limited to, foam, leather, vinyl, fabric, and carpets.Must possess a wide range of knowledge in the upholstery trade to establish work patterns and procedures that support new product introductions in a prototype/development environment. Will work from minimal instructions/sketches for development of interiors/upholstery components. Work independently or with minimal direction from Supervisor.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork from and follow process specifications, work orders, travelers, station paperwork, blueprints, rework/rejection tags, schedules, Aircraft Production Orders, schematics, layout & modifications sheets, engineering orders, Piper Production Spec (PPS), Piper Material Spec (PMS), Material Review Board, and verbal/written instruction.Report any shortages to Supervisor.Plan, lay out, and perform a wide variety of complex operations to produce high quality finish product.Possess an in-depth knowledge of Piper parts both in and out of current production.Lay out material to accomplish maximum use and eliminate waste.Operate rotary knife, reciprocal knife, band saw, and cutting dies and templates to produce patterned materials for assembly.Select sewing supplies such as binding, braid, cord, piping, tape, thread, or welt, according to specifications or color of material.Align part, fastener, or trimming; following seam, edge, or marking on parts.Operate sewing machine to join, gather, hem, reinforce, or decorate article. Trim thread and excess material.Perform preventive maintenance as required.Work discrepancies.Repair/Adjust sewing machines as needed.Maintain all reports, files, and records.Scrutinize every facet of job and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to Supervisor.Requires the use of and ownership of basic tools and various hand tools as specified by departmental tool list.Perform housekeeping chores as department requirements dictate.Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis job has no supervisory responsibilities.Will be required to train and assist other employees.QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
