This is an opportunity to join a top-notch power MOSFET design team. As part of Renesas's Rad Hard design team, this Engineer will work on next-generation power MOSFET products for space and other multiple markets.

What we need:

We are seeking a Principal Design Engineer to develop cutting edge switching power MOSFETs for 12V to 250V applications. You will participate in the full product cycle from conception of architecture through final product characterization. This will involve the conception and development of novel power MOSFET device structures, optimizing those structures for performance and ruggedness, and developing test and characterization methods to demonstrate device capability and limits. You will interface with a team of highly experienced device and process integration engineers to develop cost-effective, manufacturable devices for some of the world's most demanding applications and customers. This is a high visibility position with potential to make significant business and technological impacts.

What You'll do

* Develop novel, high-performance, high-reliability power switching device technology
* Work closely with process engineers toward development of new process flows and design rules
* Design and execute TCAD simulation experiments to center critical process and design parameters
* Identify critical design parameters and process sensitivities which affect yield to pre-defined specifications
* Collaborate with internal CAD team to develop test mask and product mask layouts and parameterized cells (P-Cells)
* Design and analyze process and design split experiments
* Work closely with applications and test engineers to gather characterization data and ensure robust test methodologies
* Help identify testing requirements for new technologies based on specific device architectures and application stresses
* Analyze measured device and test structure data to solve problems and optimize device design and process
* Provide engineering support for existing power semiconductor products

Skills You'll Need

* US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status
* M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Materials Science, or relevant field with 10+ years' outstanding experience in power semiconductor device engineering
* Expertise in the following areas

o Semiconductor Device Physics Solid State Physics

o Semiconductor Device Process Integration

o Semiconductor Device Reliability Physics

o Power Semiconductor Device Product Development

o TCAD Process and Device Simulation (preferably Sentaurus)

o Product and Test Mask Layout (preferably Cadence Virtuoso)

o Design of Experiment

o Working familiarity with structural and chemical analysis for microelectronics

o Working familiarity with power device test and characterization equipment and methodologies

o Understanding of switched-mode power applications and resulting device stresses

* Desired experience

o Demonstrated track record of commercially successful Power MOSFET developments

o Direct experience hardening semiconductor devices against Ionizing Radiation Effects

o Working familiarity with MIL-STD 750 test methods

o Successful High Voltage VDMOS device engineering experience
